About this projectThis is a website dedicated specifically to the instructional needs of teachers within AGSD. It includes direct links to resources and curriculum that is pertinent at specific schools in our district. Besides links, downloadable documents, and streaming video resources, this site will include lessons and projects created specifically for cultural integration within AGSD schools, with support for bringing local experts into the classroom, both live and virtually, and how to bring students out of the classroom with cultural field trip plans. The website will provide these resources in such a way that a teacher very new to AGSD, or even Alaska, will be able to easily navigate to their exact needs, and find lessons, units of study, projects, information and other resources applicable to each school site and community. This site will be specifically dedicated for AGSD and will help ensure all of our teachers are able to easily and effectively integrate the Cultural Standards across grade levels and subject areas.

AGSD Cultural Teaching Resources
Across Alaska Gateway School District, we have many unique communities, each with rich and varied cultural traditions. However, at our schools, we often have newer teachers who are unsure how to integrate the Cultural Standards into their teaching. This is due to a variety of factors, including unfamiliarity with the community or community members, lack of knowledge about the culture of the area, and a lack of access to focused resources that could be gathered to support this kind of integrated instruction.
